A search query can be a word or a phrase throughout the site. The tips shown below will help you expand the focus of your search to give more complete results.
- Search queries are not case-sensitive. You can type your search in uppercase or lowercase.
- Consecutive words are treated as a phrase; they must appear in the same order within matching results. Example: Video Conferencing This query finds all pages that contain the phrase "Video Conferencing" in this same order.
- To search for an exact phrase, enclose the phrase in double quotations.
Example: "Personal Computers (PC)" This query finds results containing this exact phrase.
- Search with Boolean operators (AND, OR, and NOT) and the proximity operator (NEAR) to create a more precise query.
Example: art AND museum This query finds results containing both terms.
Example: art OR museum This query finds results containing either term.
Example: art AND NOT museum This query finds results containing the first term but not containing the second term.
Example: art NEAR museum This query finds results containing both terms on the same page in close proximity.
- The wildcard character (*) can match words with a given prefix.
Example: comput* This query finds results containing the words "compute," "computer," "computing," and so on.
